Smog Check Near Me -
1976 and newer vehicles require biennial smog check once the vehicle becomes 6 years old. For diesel vehicles, 1998 and newer and under 14,000 lbs require smog certification. This six year old rule does not apply to diesels.
Smog check inspections are good for 90 days from the date of the test. If you go over 90 days, the DMV will require another smog check.
Smog Check Star Station (AKA Test-Only)
In order to keep air pollution down, the state directs vehicles that have a high likelihood of failing or have failed before to a STAR smog station. STAR smog stations have met higher performance standards than other smog stations, so drivers like you can have confidence your smog check is accurate and trustworthy. The STAR program replaced the Gold Shield program. In addition, now both Test Only Stations & Test and Repair Stations can qualify to test state directed vehicles.
Diesel Smog Check
Diesel vehicles 1998 and newer with a (GVWR) rating of no more than 14,000 lbs require smog check. Unlike their new gasoline counterparts, new diesels are immediately part of the smog check program once they come off the lot.
Out-of-State Transfer Smog Check
All vehicles (gasoline & diesel) that are going to be registered in California must complete and PASS a smog check inspection.
Pass ‘N Go Smog Center is licensed with the DMV to complete the out-of-state transfer process and issue new registration, stickers, and plates. If converting your out-of-state title to California, new titles are mailed to the new owners address by the DMV within 10 business days. Pass ‘N Go is also licensed by the Bureau of Automotive Repair to provide smog check inspections.
California Residents Only: If you are purchasing an out-of-state vehicle, it MUST meet California or 50-State emissions standards. Federal or 49-state vehicles bought by California residents are NOT allowed to be registered per DMV.
Military Base Smog Check
Military personnel are not required to register their vehicles in California; however, some installations require military personnel vehicles to a pass a California smog check before being allowed to register on base.
Recreational Vehicle (RV) Smog Check
Motorhome or recreational vehicles (RVs) in California, require smog check just like other vehicles.
Pass ‘N Go Smog Center can handle any year, size, make, or model motorhome for smog check. We do ask that our motorhome customers call ahead to schedule an appointment as some models can take considerable time and can substantially increase wait times for you and that of others.
Note: If your motorhome has a doghouse, aka engine cover, we ask you loosen up the bolts or screws that hold it in place before coming in. By doing this, you help reduce your wait time considerably as our inspectors can conduct their visual and functional inspections of your engine quickly.
